How to make a business card QR code
- 1
Add your details
Enter your name, job title, company, phone, email, website and social links, and add a photo if you like.
- 2
Design the code
Pick your colors and add your logo. Keep the code dark on a light background so it scans reliably on a small card.
- 3
Subscribe and download
See the Pro price, subscribe, and download an SVG or PDF for your printer. Scan a printed proof with an iPhone and an Android phone before a big run.
- 4
Update any time
Change your number, title or photo from your dashboard. Every card you've handed out shows the new details the next time it's scanned.
How a vCard QR code works on QR Simple
vCard is the standard format phones use for contact cards. Some QR codes pack a whole vCard into the pattern itself, which makes a dense code that can never change. QR Simple works differently: your code holds a short qr-simple.com link to a contact page we host for you. People who scan it see your photo and details, and a “Save contact” button adds you to their phone's contacts.
Because the code points to a page rather than fixed text, you can edit that page any time and the printed code stays the same. You also see how many times the code has been scanned.
What goes on your contact page
Fill in as much or as little as you want to share:
- Your name and photo
- Job title and company
- Phone number and email address
- Your website
- Links to your social profiles
- A “Save contact” button that adds you to the scanner's contacts
Details change? Your cards don't have to
Job titles, phone numbers and companies change, and business cards often stay in circulation long after. With a hosted contact page, you update your details in the dashboard and every card already handed out shows the current version when scanned.
Pro is CA$15US$10 a month or CA$120US$80 a year with no trial. You can cancel online any time, you get a full refund within 15 days of your first payment and of each annual renewal, and if Pro ever ends, your printed codes keep working behind a one-tap “Continue” screen.
Print tips for business cards
Because the code holds a short link rather than all your details, the pattern stays simple and scans well even on a small card. A few rules keep it that way:
- Print the code at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide.
- Keep it dark on a light background, with a clear margin around it.
- Don't let card graphics touch or overlap the code.
- Add a short prompt next to it, such as “Scan to save my contact”.
- Use the SVG or PDF file for print so it stays sharp at any size.

Frequently asked questions
What is a vCard QR code?
A QR code that shares your contact details in the vCard format phones use for contacts. With QR Simple, the code opens a hosted contact page where people can save you to their phone in one tap.
Is the vCard QR code free?
No. Contact-card codes are part of Pro, at CA$15US$10 a month or CA$120US$80 a year, because we host your contact page and keep it editable. There's no trial, and you get a full refund within 15 days of your first payment. The free generator still makes static codes for links, email, SMS, WhatsApp, text and map locations.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. The phone's built-in camera opens your contact page with no app needed, and the “Save contact” button adds you to their contacts. Test your printed card on both before a big print run.
Can I update my details after printing?
Yes. Edit your contact page in the dashboard, and every printed code shows the new details the next time it's scanned. The code itself never changes.
Do you store my contact details?
Yes. Your contact page is hosted by QR Simple, so we store the details you add and show them to anyone who scans the code. Only include what you're happy to share.
What happens to my contact page if I cancel Pro?
Printed codes keep working. People see a one-tap “Continue” screen first, and editing and analytics pause until you resubscribe.
Why won't my business card QR code scan?
Usually it's printed too small or with too little contrast. Print it at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide, dark on a light background, with a clear margin around it.
