Free QR Code Generator – No Expiration, No Sign-Up
This free QR code generator has no expiration date and no catch: it makes static QR codes that store your link or details in the pattern itself, so there is nothing to renew and nothing anyone can switch off. No sign-up, no email, no watermark.

How to make a QR code that doesn't expire

Choose a website link, plain text or an email address.
- 2

Save a PNG or SVG, scan it with your phone, and check the address it shows before you print.
Why some QR codes stop working
Most QR codes that “expire” were never fully yours. Some generators make every code dynamic by default: the pattern holds the generator's own short link, which forwards to your website. When a cheap trial ends, the forwarding stops unless you pay a monthly subscription, and every printed copy stops working at once.
A static code works differently. Your link, text or email address is encoded in the pattern itself. No server sits in the middle, so there is nothing to switch off, and the code doesn't depend on us or anyone else to keep working.
What “never expires” does and doesn't cover
A static QR code has no expiry date, but it can only be as permanent as what it points to:
- If you delete the web page or let your domain lapse, the code will open a dead page.
- If your email address changes, make a new email code.
- Plain text is fully self-contained and keeps working for good.
- Wi-Fi and contact-card codes aren't static on QR Simple. They're Pro hosted pages, so a new password or phone number doesn't mean a new code.
How to check whether an existing code will expire
Scan it with your phone camera and look at the web address it shows before you tap. If it's your own website, the code is static and has no expiry. If it's a short link on a QR generator's domain, it's a dynamic code, and it keeps working only as long as that service keeps forwarding it.
If you find a trial-based code on something you've printed, the safest fix is to replace it with a static code that points straight at your real address.
When a dynamic code is worth paying for
Static is the right choice when the destination won't change. If you need to change it after printing, or you want scan counts, a dynamic code is the right tool, as long as it's sold honestly. QR Simple Pro is CA$15US$10 a month or CA$120US$80 a year with no trial, and if your plan ever ends your codes keep scanning through a short “Continue to …” screen instead of breaking.

Frequently asked questions
Do QR codes expire?
The QR code format itself has no expiry. A code stops working only when the link or service it depends on stops working, which is what happens when a generator switches off a trial-based dynamic code.
Are free QR codes from QR Simple permanent?
Yes. They are static codes with your data inside, so they don't depend on our servers at all. They keep working as long as the destination exists.
Is there a scan limit on free codes?
No. Static codes don't pass through our servers, so there is no scan limit, and no scan counting either.
What's the difference between a static and a dynamic QR code?
A static code stores your content directly and can't be edited. A dynamic code stores a short link that forwards to your content, so it can be edited and tracked but depends on the service that runs the link.
Do I need to sign up to download?
No. There's no account, no email and no watermark on free codes.
What happens to a Pro dynamic code if I cancel?
It keeps scanning. People see a short “Continue to …” screen before reaching your destination, and editing and analytics pause until you resubscribe.
